The Bitter End (or sweet?)

As most of my readers know, in Jan 2008, I was laid off by my boss.

I had been selling insurance with him since October 2006, and I sent out dozens of resumes and applications looking for a new job. The Lord closed every open door according to His hidden purpose.

Frito Lay held the most promice but they turned me down after my first interview, and I found out later that they were interviewing for a future position. They had already filled the existing opening at the time of my interview.

3 months later I am still unemployed and receiving unemployment compensation benefits, but I have finally received tentative approval for financial assistance to attend truck driving school.

I have a meeting with the Smart Business Resource Center on Monday where I am scheduled to discuss final plans for starting a course with American Truck Driving School.

As the Lord would have it, my wife took a call from Frito Lay today and they have another opening to fill. I am supposed meet with them for my second interview on Monday at 2pm, only a few hours after my meeting with the smart business resource center.

Frito Lay holds a lot of promise due to the fact that they don't require their sales guys to make cold calls. All commissions and bonuses are calculated based on sales to your existing customers.

I was interested in truck driving due to it's lack of sales, but I would likely spend a lot more time away from my family as a truck driver than as a route sales driver with Frito Lay. Both jobs will probably pay about the same, so I will pursue this recent opportunity with Frito Lay, while trying to keep my foot in the door at the truck driving school.

Well it seems that God is going to keep me guessing until the very end.
